Dear Bloomfield Baseball League and Bloomfield Sting Families,
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the critical medical emergency experienced earlier this week by Brant Oberst.
Brant was transported to the University of Michigan's C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, where he is under the care of a remarkable medical team and surrounded by his loving family as they face an unimaginably difficult moment together. The family has shared that he is currently waiting to provide the Gift of Life, so that even in this moment of heartbreak, Brant's legacy can bring hope to another child and family.
A kind, spirited, and joyful young person who embodies what it means to be part of our baseball family.
Brant has touched many lives within our community. He is a beloved student and friend to many at Way Elementary School, a dedicated Bloomfield Baseball League player for several seasons, and this year proudly became a teammate on one of our 10U Bloomfield Sting teams. To his coaches, teammates, classmates, and friends, Brant is known for his infectious smile, his love of the game, and his unwavering spirit on and off the field.
On behalf of the Bloomfield Baseball League, the Bloomfield Sting, and the entire Bloomfield Baseball community, we extend our deepest sympathies, love, and support to Brant's family, friends, coaches, and teammates during this most difficult time.

Even in the face of unimaginable heartbreak, the Oberst family has made an extraordinary decision of love and generosity. Brant is waiting to provide the Gift of Life through organ donation — a process coordinated by Gift of Life Michigan that takes time as medical teams carefully evaluate and match recipients so that each gift can have the greatest possible impact.
Through this selfless act, Brant's spirit of kindness will live on, bringing hope to other children and families he may never have known. This decision reflects the same courage and heart that Brant carries with him every day — on the field and off.
